In this workshop, we’ll discuss what a professional brand is and outline steps to identify and create your own professional brand plan. We will also identify resources and strategies for networking and developing professional relationships in your field both in person and virtually. There will also be an opportunity to practice your elevator pitch!

Join Graduate Student Life and Mason Recreation: Outdoor Adventures for a hike of Old Rag where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and meet other graduate students. One of the most popular hikes in Virginia, Old Rag is a moderately difficult 9-mile, 5-6 hour hike that offers spectacular views of the Shenandoah Mountains both at the summit and along the way. It’s a must do for any Virginia hiker and covers everything from shaded forest trails to summit rock scrambling.
Thanks to generous support from the Parents' Fund, registration for Graduate Outdoor Adventures is free. Due to limited capacity and expected demand, we ask that you register for the event only if you are sure that you will be able to attend and participate. To celebrate Love Data Week (February 10-14, 2020), the Digital Scholarship Center (DiSC) will hold workshops to build your skills in data analysis and research data management. Join us to gain hands-on experience and learn about resources that can meet your data needs throughout the research process.
All the sessions will take place in the DiSC lab (Fenwick Library 2701A) starting at 1:00pm, with most having an encore at 5:00pm. Registration is recommended.

Interpersonal Skills: A Key to Job Success
| |
Interpersonal skills can be described as those that allow you to successfully interact with and convey information to other people. Regardless of our program or degree level, all graduate students can benefit from improving these skills, especially those of us preparing to enter the career world soon. With graduation coming up in May, I am constantly thinking of ways to enhance my resume and set myself apart from other job candidates; bringing attention to my interpersonal skills is a great way to do this. While others may have the same credentials and technical knowledge as you, many may not have these skills, which can lead to more and better job opportunities.
