Bert Louis, associate professor of anthropology and African studies, spent three weeks in New Providence, Bahamas studying statelessness—a term describing one who is not considered a citizen in any country.

Under the leadership of Wynton Marsalis, Greg Tardy, associate professor of jazz, will tour with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for five weeks. He will play four different instruments: tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, clarinet, and bass clarinet.

Each summer UT welcomes several groups of incoming students to campus from under-represented groups to participate in programs such as the Intercollegiate Summer Bridge Program (ISB) and the UT Lead Summer Institute (UTLSI).
In a joint effort among researchers from UT’s College of Social Work, the Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Department of Public Health in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences—the College of Social Work’s Pet Health Equity Program received a $2.8 million grant from Maddie’s Fund.
Students in the School of Landscape Architecture are breaking down the walls of the classroom and taking their expertise to the Tennessee River by developing proposals that investigate new ways to experience the 40,000-square-mile watershed.
Misty Anderson, professor of English and faculty senate president, directed Horace Walpole’s play The Mysterious Mother during Walpolooza— a yearlong celebration of the historian and author’s 300th birthday.
