Dean's Corner
Dear CONHI Community,
As we near the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to share how thankful I am for our dedicated and exemplary student body, faculty and staff, alumni, community partners, and friends. Our students have had a successful return to campus this fall, and I am proud of their flexibility in both their on-campus and online courses, as we all work to stay safe and healthy.
Our alumni continue to reach new heights of achievement, and many have been spotlighted over the past months. I would encourage our alumni who have recent job news, research updates, or other academic success to let us know by emailing CONHImedia@uta.edu.
Last, we are nearly a year out from the expected completion of the new UTA School of Social Work/College of Nursing and Health Innovation Smart Hospital building. We have a tremendous opportunity thanks to a recent $1 million matching gift from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, the city’s charitable arm. The gift serves as a dollar-for-dollar challenge grant with the goal of inspiring alumni as well as other members of the Maverick community to take part in bringing the state-of-the-art facility to life. Gifts donated in support of the building will be matched by the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation up to $1 million. The money donated and matched will make a significant impact toward the completion of our world-class facility that will benefit current and future students, North Texas, and beyond. I would like to personally invite you to learn more about the gift and consider making a donation today.
All the best, Dean Elizabeth Merwin, PhD, RN, FAAN
