In partnership with the Port of Portland, RACC is thrilled to announce the selection of artists Yoonhee Choi and Sanford Biggers for the PDX Airport Phase 1 Terminal Redevelopment. Yoonhee Choi, a Portland-based artist, will design artwork for two glass walls in the pre-security queuing area. These 56-foot long, 11-foot high walls, visible from multiple viewpoints, represent Choi's first, large-scale, commissioned public artwork. Inspired by her mixed media collages, these site-specific compositions will showcase her whimsical and structured design style.
Sanford Biggers, based in NYC, will create two large-scale, signature artworks to be suspended in the concourse connector passageway. Greeting travelers post-security, these pieces will be Biggers's first commissioned public artwork in the Pacific Northwest, resonating with his Codex series.
These installations, set to be on display in May 2024, mark the beginning of many artistic endeavors in the TCORE project, part of PDX's $2 billion renovation.

Lillian Pitt is a PNW Native American artist who is a part of the Warm Springs/Wasco and Yakama tribes of the Columbia River Gorge. Her work draws from “the dramatic landscape of the Columbia River Gorge and the scientific and cultural knowledge of Native peoples,” honoring her “ancestors who lived in the Columbia River Gorge area for more than 10,000 years,” and reminding viewers that “Native Americans are still here, creating and thriving.” We are grateful to have several of Lillian Pitt's public works on view throughout the city.
