President’s Report May 2017 On a glorious day in May, almost 40 Warm Hearth Village residents took the time to attend our Brown Bag forum on the 16th. Key initiatives were discussed, with highlights as follows: Dinner Hours at the Huckleberry Café - Andrew Fillers, General Manager for Dining and Housekeeping Services, shared plans currently in progress to offer dinner at the Huckleberry Café. This will initially be offered one day per week with the hope of expansion in the future if warranted. More information will be shared in the near future, as we hope to begin offering this service in early summer. Power Outage – My apologies to all for the change in date for AEP’s planned power outage. This 8-10 hour outage is now scheduled for May 25. The purpose of the outage is to replace damaged power poles and prepare for the installation of fiber optic cable to be installed between sub-stations, in the hopes of improving service reliability. We are hopeful that AEP will stick to this new date, but please be alert to any additional schedule changes. Onsite Medical Clinic – Our proposed partner, Carilion Clinic, required completion of a market appraisal in order to arrive at an acceptable lease price per square foot. The appraisal determined a lease price that was just slightly lower than our lender’s calculated price per square foot, and we were able to agree to Carilion’s number. In exchange, Carilion has agreed to a five year lease term, instead of the three year term originally proposed. We are now waiting for Carilion’s legal department to send us a signed lease agreement so that we can move forward with the project. New IL Housing Project – Our architect has designed apartment floor plans for review by prospective residents, and these plans have been turned over to a builder for cost estimating purposes. We hope to be able to construct 36 independent living apartments adjacent to Litton Lane and Showalter Drive. The waiting list for townhomes continues to grow and we very much want to capitalize on the strong market demand. New “Rejuvenation Movement” class – Warm Hearth resident Val DePillo is volunteering her talents to offer a class focused on gentle restorative stretching and breathing. “Rejuvenation Movement” classes are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. at the Village Center fitness studio. All are welcome. Please consider joining us at our next Brown Bag Forum on Tuesday, July 18th, at noon in Tall Oaks Hall. Thanks as always for your involvement and input! All the Best, Ferne Ferne Moschella, President & CEO Proud Employee of Warm Hearth Village for 17 years!!
