Dear parents and families,
I know many of you were made aware of the WashU alert that went out last Tuesday. It was a day that challenged our collective sense of safety, and I want to acknowledge the worry that naturally created for you as parents and families. Since then, our priority has been to care for your student—providing quiet spaces to pause and reflect at Graham Chapel, finding strength in reconnecting during our campus-wide Well-being Wednesday, and providing additional support as needed. It has been deeply moving to see our community lean on one another and begin to heal together.
Their resilience is shining through. It has been wonderful to see students spending time together and celebrating some sunny days and milder temperatures—reminding me of what makes WashU so special.
Here are a few upcoming highlights in March:
|
-
Our book club meetings for Dr. G’s Book Club for Parents & Families are coming up, featuring The Gift of Failure by Jessica Lahey. One is on March 12 at 6 p.m. and the other March 13 at noon. I invite you join us! Please register, if you haven’t already.
-
Applications are open for the Summer Internship Fund until April 30. The fund provides financial awards to undergraduate students to help offset the costs associated with completing unpaid or low-paid summer internships—giving them access to invaluable pre-professional experiences.
-
Spring break is March 9-13. If your student will be in St. Louis during break and lives in Residential Life housing, please remind them to complete a Spring Break Housing Request. If they are looking for ways to connect and engage, our Spring Alternative Break program offers students opportunities to volunteer with local community organizations.
- Well-being Wednesdays, an initiative to cultivate lifelong well-being habits, continue every week. We encourage students, faculty and staff to take a break, stop by the farmers market, and pick up healthy snacks and a few new wellness tips.
|
Happy Spring Break to you and your student. We look forward to welcoming them back, renewed and ready to finish the semester strong.

Warmly,
Anna “Dr. G” Gonzalez
