Dear Student,
I hope your winter break has been relaxing, rejuvenating, and fun. We are preparing for your return with great anticipation, and are excited to share in your accomplishments, discoveries, and personal milestones that will unfold during the upcoming Spring semester.
If you have spent your break outside of New England, the weather here has been unseasonably warm and without any significant winter storms. Hopefully, this may mean that your travels back to Boston, Somerville, and Medford will be easy ones.
For those of you living on campus, the Residence Halls open at noon on Sunday, January 15. The University is observing Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 16. I encourage you to use the day for community service or personal reflection. The first day of classes for all AS&E students is Wednesday, January 18.
We recognize that the need to complete the Fall term remotely was stressful, frustrating, and disruptive. An investigation to find those responsible continues. In the meantime, our Public Safety team and all of us will remain vigilant in securing our campus. You will receive timely notifications of any security alerts should they become necessary.
We know that returning to campus may sometimes be challenging too, and we wanted to remind you that Counseling and Mental Health Services is open daily from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and you can schedule an appointment with a clinician by calling 617-627-3360 or going to go.tufts.edu/counseling. In addition, our counselor-on-call is available after hours at 617-627-3360 for mental health emergencies. You can also reach out to our peer support service, Ears for Peers.

Safe travels and we look forward to seeing you back on campus very soon.
With my best wishes in this new year.
