A YEAR IN AFGHANISTAN: A PHYSICIAN'S EXPERIENCE

This is a repeat of a very popular presentation by Dr. Aaran Saguil, physician and admissions dean at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences medical school who discusses his experience with military and trauma medicine.

PREDENTAL STUDENTS

“The Holistic Admissions Process for Dental School – It is more than just the numbers” will be a presentation and discussion with Dr. Jeanette Sabir-Holloway, Director of Admissions, Recruitment and Outreach at Tufts Dental School. It will be held on Tuesday, March 12th at 4:30PM in Dowling 730. All predental students are encouraged to attend. Juniors in the EAP program are required to attend. Students will to sign-in when they attend this meeting.

MAPS is hosting a visit from Sara Roser-Jones, Assistant Director of Admissions on Monday, March 5, 5-7 PM in the Dowling Milmore Room. Learn about their medical school and their admissions evaluation process. Food will be provided.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITY

PALS Program
PALS Programs offers immersive one-week long summer camps for teens and young adults with Down syndrome and their peers. Volunteer counselors are paired one-to-one with a roommate who has Down syndrome for a week of incredible activities and trips. Trips have included a day at the beach, yacht cruises, amusement parks, and more!

PALS provides an opportunity for future healthcare professionals to gain experience with diverse populations, develop genuine friendships, and build leadership skills. Check out this video to see why volunteers call PALS the best week of the year!

JOB/POSTGRAD OPPORTUNITY

1. Dr. Elan D. Louis, Professor of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine, is hiring full-time, paid post-baccalaureate trainee(s) for the neuroepidemiological study RULET (Risk Factors Underlying Essential Tremor). 
This is the perfect position for a motivated graduate who is interested in obtaining additional hands-on research experience before applying to graduate or medical school. As part of their educational experience, the post-baccalaureate trainee will develop strong research skills pertaining to: the clinical evaluation of patients with a broad range of tremor disorders, methods to assess environmental and dietary exposures in neurological patients, and methods of data analysis using statistical software. 
Commitment of at least one year required.

2. Northwell CHIOR Postgrad Opportunity - Manhasset, NY
The Center for Health Innovations and Outcomes Research at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research offers a 12-month, paid internship for 1-2 accomplished college graduates, who plan on continuing their graduate/professional education. Interns will gain operational and clinical experience by working with various clinical research professionals on a healthcare-related project
The primary focus of the gap year research program is conducting health outcomes research. Interns will have the opportunity to attend lectures and trainings of interest available through the Center and Northwell Health. Interns will also have opportunities for occasional shadowing of clinicians
