Brad Forrest Makes Shuttle Rides a Pleasant Experience for Every Passenger
After a long travel day, shuttle riders are thankful to be on their way home. The ride to the lots isn't long, and it feels even shorter with kind and reassuring service from a great driver. A passenger sent in this compliment for SP Plus Corporation shuttle driver Brad Forrest (he/him):
“A great shuttle bus driver just dropped my family off in the parking lot. The driver was a nice gentleman named Brad. He drove safely and was patient with all the passengers and their many stops. Keep up the good work, young man! Thank you for getting my family a bit closer to home.”

New Hours, Flavors and Menu Items for Roadway Food Trucks
As you might already know, two new food trucks are now pulling up at PDX: Pidgin Hole and Alchemy Sandwich Co. And there's even more great news! Taqueria La Merced is open evening hours on Mondays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to midnight. They've also added two menu items: nachos and hot chocolate. The food trucks are found on the north end of the upper-outer roadway. All trucks have order ahead options and you can keep track of who's where and when on the PDX People calendar.

PDX Gets New Nonstop Flights to Phoenix
As temperatures drop, locals may be looking to escape our winter-like fall weather. They now have a new route with Frontier Airlines, which offers nonstop flights from Portland to Phoenix. While fewer flights will be available between now and mid-February, three direct flights a week will be available starting Sunday, Feb. 19.

Snow and Ice Update Anticipates Chilly Weather
Last week, our Airport Operations team got an overview of winter weather from KPTV’s Mark Nelsen and Chris Burling of the National Weather Service. They shared two things to know about our third “La Niña” winter in a row: Temperatures will be colder and wetter than normal and, yes, you can expect some valley snow. That’s just one small piece of what PDX (the airport) and PDX (the city) can expect over the next few months. But no matter what the weather, there’s one place to go when you want to know: pdx.com/conditions!

Veterans Day Celebrates Military Service
Veterans Day is observed in the United States on November 11 and honors our military veterans. This includes those who served in the United States Armed Forces – Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard. It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. World War I formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. Thank you to all our veterans for your bravery, dedication and, most of all, for your service.
Want to help support our veterans this year? Now through Wednesday, Nov. 30, we're hosting a warm clothing drive in partnership with the Port of Portland's Veterans employee resource group. You're encouraged to bring in gently used gloves, hats, coats and cold weather gear to be donated to the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center. The drop box is located near the Anchor conference room on the first floor of the Port of Portland Headquarters building, accessed by the elevators at the end of the PDX North Tunnel. Need help getting your donations to the location? Email Ryan Choate to arrange for pickup.

Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of the Rip City Clothing Co. pop-up store on Concourse C. The opening coincided with the Portland Trail Blazers release of their 2022-23 Nike NBA City Edition uniform, which pays homage to the original, iconic PDX carpet pattern.
As an airport employee, you can enjoy 10% off at the store; just show your employee ID at checkout to receive the discount. But even better than a discount? You could win one of the City Edition uniforms, just for subscribing to this newsletter! Forward this newsletter to your co-workers and encourage them to sign up by Wednesday, Nov. 30 to be entered to win. We'll announce the winner on Monday, Dec. 5.
