ROCK STEADY BOXING KICKS OFF

Rock Steady Boxing launched this week at the fitness center. Rock Steady Boxing is a unique exercise program based upon training used by professional boxers to help alleviate the symptoms associated with Parkinson’s Disease. Warm Hearth Village is the first senior living community to offer the Rock Steady program in Virginia. CARILION CLINIC CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
The Clinic is taking shape, literally!  The framers have been busy the last two weeks framing walls and setting roof trusses.  Next week, the electrician, plumber, and mechanical subcontractors will be on site to start running wires, pipes and plumbing in the walls.
PARTNERING WITH FEEDING AMERICA

The Warm Hearth Foundation and Feeding America Southwest Virginia have partnered to offer The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) to residents at Warm Hearth Village on low, fixed incomes. One hundred and nine residents at the Village qualify for the program based on income requirements and 30 pound boxes of shelf-stable food items were delivered on August 8th to those who have signed up. Recipients showed their appreciation with many thank-you’s and hugs.

INTRODUCING THE MEMORY CAFÉ
The Memory Café provides opportunities for seniors diagnosed with early stage memory loss and their care partner(s)/family to engage with peers in a relaxed, unstructured environment.  The café atmosphere promotes social engagement and support through interaction with others experiencing similar lifestyle changes.

KARR ACTIVITY CENTER REMODEL
Check out the before and after pictures below of the Karr Activity Center remodel. The Karr Activity Center is a popular gathering spot for smaller events on campus and is located directly between Showalter Center and Trolinger/New River House Apartments. Residents are thrilled with the new look and can’t wait to start using the space. Remodeling continues on campus at the Kroontje Health Care Center lobby and then into the Cove.
