1-6-25 Bowling Memo

We hope this finds you all doing well. We are looking forward to the 2024-25 season! With the season upon us, there are a couple of things that we would like to call your attention to.

Bound: The Bound reporting deadlines are on the following dates this season:
Tuesday, January 14
Tuesday, January 28
Tuesday, February 11

The expectation is that stats for all matches must be posted along with having rosters and schedules updated. Please make sure to double check that you are importing your games and formats correctly on Bound.

Rules Meeting: The Bowling Rules meeting is live in Bound. Please make sure to access and view the 2024-25 Rules meeting as soon as possible. You may find this by clicking either the IHSAA or IGHSAU logo on the left-hand side of your Bound screen. The Rules meeting will need to be completed by the end of the dayDecember 1st, 2024. If it is not completed by that date, you will not be allowed to coach in the post season.

State Qualifying Bowling Sites: We need facilities to host state qualifying bowling meets on February 17th for girls and February 18th for boys. A reminder that host sites receive $200 from each school ($100 for each boys’ team and $100 for each girls’ team if hosting both). We will need four regional sites in Class 3A and 2A state qualifying meets. Eight sites will be needed in Class 1A. The 2A & 3A state qualifying sites should have a minimum of 16 lanes while the 1A sites need a facility that has a minimum of 10 lanes.

If you have not filled out the site availability form yet, it may be done by logging into your Bound account and clicking on the IGHSAU logo located on the far-left column on your Bound home page. Click on the logo and you will find the link to open “Bowling Site Availabilities,” if you would like to be considered as a state qualifying host--please fill out the availability before December 31.

Bowling Manual Online: Please view the manual found on the IHSAA/IGHSAU websites.

Important Note: There were a couple changes that were discussed and recommended by the Bowling Advisory Committee in the offseason. Those changes are highlighted in both the Rules Meeting and the Bowling Manual for the 2024-25 season. They include defining your varsity roster of 6 bowlers, split frame substitutions, state individual tournament bowling with all consolation matches bowled to determine third through eighth place, as well as a continued partnership with the Iowa State USBC for rule interpretations in the postseason. In addition, the recording of wins and losses within the BOUND system has been adjusted with further information coming from the Iowa High School Bowling Coaches Association.

Thanks for all that you do for Iowa kids. Your time and commitment are appreciated.

Sincerely,
Chad Elsberry, IHSAA
Taylor Anderson, IGHSAU
