March 2019 Silver Spring Newsletter
Happy March! We rocked a lot of shows, won a trophy, and kicked off a new season. There is much in store this month so be sure to check out all upcoming events and mark your calendars!

Silver Spring takes Best of Season Trophy & We Are Over the Moon!

We are still basking in the glow of our performances at the Best of Season show on February 17th. The students really pulled it together, brought their school spirit, seriously wowed the crowd, and paid tribute to Rock N' Roll!  You should also know that songs presented by our students took the TOP THREE SPOTS - they just killed it!  There was a tie between Sugar (System of a Down) and Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) - both were just so good that we crushed the competition.  We cannot express enough how proud we are of all that our amazing students accomplished this season.  Well done!

Our Winter Adult Band 90's AlternativeTribute at Slash Run was an Absolute Blast!

It was truly amazing watching each one of these adults brave the stage and wow the crowd! The transformation from the first day of rehearsal to the day of the show in five short weeks was something pretty great to witness.

Be sure to mark your calendar for our We <3 the 80's Tribute performance with our current Adult Band session at Slash Run - Saturday, March 23rd - 3pm. You won't want to miss this one, folks!  Or, quick!  Join us!  Call Gia on 301-589-7625 and get the details on this session.

2nd Round of JV House Band Audtions 3/24

Didn't get your chance to audition for our new JV House Band in January? No worries!  We are holding our second round of auditions for JV Band Sunday, March 24th!
What is JV? Does your child love music, hanging out with other musical kids and is having fun playing in our Performance Program shows? This is a chance to do MORE and simply get better faster. JV Band is smaller than our performance groups and there will be a few gigs where band members can hone their performance chops. When students get more rehearsal time, more stage time, more direction and more learning, what do you get? More confidence and some serious chops.   We rehearse Sundays 4 to 6PM and have an occasional gig that we will schedule well in advance.  Band members will be asked to learn parts and work to contribute positively to the band and set list,  but the main goal is to get them playing more so they grow in skill faster. There is no cost for this program.  All we ask is for parent support and students who want to rock and who will come prepared to do their best each week. Finally, JV is our main incubator for House Band.  If your child has their sights set on House Band one day, JV is the place to get noticed.
Have more questions? Call the school and let's chat or feel free to reply to this email. Are you ready to audition? Click below to schedule your time on Sunday, March 24th.
