| Announcing the Office of Career and Life Design
The Office of Career and Life Design (OCLD) aims to empower all graduate students and postdocs to design their own paths. They are a central hub for resources, services and support so that all grad students and postdocs can excel in their work, build essential skills, maintain personal well-being and prepare for their future careers.
The OCLD provides individualized and group career advising, teach career design classes and workshops, and connect career offices and employers across disciplines to increase access to opportunities. They convene campus units to advocate for graduate level services and work closely with constituents to coordinate support.

Talking to Humans: Networking for Grad Students and Postdocs Tuesday, Feb. 4 & Monday, Feb. 17, 5:15 -6:15 p.m. over Zoom
Learn how to network effectively and build meaningful, two-way relationships at an upcoming site visit in this interactive virtual workshop with the Office of Career and Life Design! Identify where you can add value, refine your messaging, and practice strategies to connect.
This workshop is designed specifically for graduate students and postdocs. Attending this workshop will help you prep for Tech is for Everyone and Break Into Data site visits, plus a variety of other networking contexts. Lunch Workshop: Making Your Work Accessible and Relevant to a General Audience Thursday, Feb. 20, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Gordon White Building Multipurpose Room. Lunch will be provided.
Research storytelling is a way to communicate research findings to a general audience in an engaging and understandable way. It can be used to share the narrative of the research process, the significance of the research, and the researcher's personal connection to the work. In this workshop, participants will build storytelling skills. Harnessing the power of story will enable you to be more persuasive, move people to action, and progress into your career.

NIH Repays Your Student Loans: NIH Repayment Program Information Session Friday, Feb. 21, noon-1:30 p.m., Robert A. Welch Hall Room 2.306
You’re invited to an in-depth overview of the NIH Loan Repayment Program from the Division of Loan Repayment Director, Matthew Lockhart. Applicants must hold an M.D., Ph.D., Psy.D., Pharm.D, D.O., D.D.S., D.M.D. D.P.M, D.C., N.D., O.D., D.V.M, or equivalent doctoral-level degree (exceptions for the Contraception & Infertility Research, and REACH LRP). The NIH LRPs will accept applications from September 1-mid November. Don’t miss your opportunity to learn how you could receive up to $100,000 in educational debt relief.

| Being a postdoc is a journey of ups and downs, successes and setbacks. While our door is always open if you need a listening ear at the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, this if your reminder that the Employee Assistance Program also offers a multitude of activities and resources to help you thrive. EAP offers counseling services, group therapy opportunities and a number of wellness-focused events each month for employees of UT Austin. Their website also houses resources for everything from stress reduction to tips on being more assertive in the workplace. EAP makes it easy for you to take time for yourself amidst a busy schedule, such as with their weekly guided virtual meditation session that is only fifteen minutes every Tuesday afternoon.
