MUDEC students, faculty, and staff set off last Sunday on their respective study tours. This week, we will feature the Sociology study tour to beautiful Strasbourg, France, the capital of the Alsace region.
Strasbourg in a European Context
SOC 337 students have been learning all semester about the ways in which national identity intersects with European identity. Strasbourg, the home of many European Union institutions and a city that has changed nationalities several times throughout history, was a rich place to discover.
Enjoying the view from the Palais Rohan. Marie Antoinette and Napoléon I both stayed in this palace during their visits to Strasbourg

Solistes Européens Luxembourg
Thanks to the coordination by Professor Backes and the generosity of the Solistes Européens Luxembourg (SEL), MUDEC students have had the opportunity to attend SEL concerts at the Philharmonie for many years now.
Eugène Prim, the director of the Solistes Européens, gave a lecture at MUDEC on September 30th about the history of the orchestra and the challenges and rewards of managing an international orchestra. Students now have the opportunity to experience an SEL concert first-hand on October 12th at the Philharmonie.
Explore Lux City Discovery Tour
The day before departing for study tours, students stayed close by and explored the capital city. They divided and conquered in various Luxembourg-themed escape rooms, enjoyed a Latin American lunch, and enjoyed all that Lux City has to offer.
