Welcome to the last day of October edition of the Warrior Family Association e-newsletter. Campus has been bustling with activity, and it was especially so over our Homecoming and Family Weekend earlier this month. Friday night featured a black-tie gala during which Indiana Tech announced the launching of the public phase of our Building a Century of Excellence Capital Campaign. We’ve already raised $25.2 million to support the expansion and renovation of our Zollner Engineering Center, new student scholarships and enhancement of our athletic programs. As Indiana Tech approaches its 100-year anniversary in 2030, we are focused on engaging with more of our benefactors and creating more opportunities for our students as we complete our “building a century of excellence.”
On Saturday of homecoming weekend, President Einolf and I attended many events that took place throughout the day. We spent time with alumni and current students, and we attended a number of sporting events. We always enjoy sharing the many exciting things that are happening on campus, especially the exciting Zollner Engineering Center project. Many of our long-time alumni were engineering majors and they were happy see the new construction on our campus.

The 8th annual CRUSH HUNGER campaign has officially kicked off!
Between now and Nov.11, eight area colleges and universities will participate in a friendly competition to raise food and funds for hunger relief in partnership with Community Harvest Food Bank. Participants include reigning champion University of Saint Francis, as well as Huntington University, Indiana Tech, Indiana University Fort Wayne, Ivy Tech, Manchester University, Purdue University Fort Wayne and Trine University. With a goal to raise 125,000 total pounds before the competition end, canned goods and funding can be donated to support each school’s chances of bringing home the traveling trophy for 2022.
The final 2021 U Can Crush Hunger standings are as follows:
1st Place: University of Saint Francis with 42,706 pounds
2nd Place: Manchester University with 33,014 pounds
3rd Place: Purdue University Fort Wayne with 21,881 pounds
4th Place: Indiana Tech with 14,027 pounds
5th Place: Trine University with 7,767 pounds
6th Place: Huntington University with 7,304 pounds
7th Place: Ivy Tech with 7,300 pounds
8th Place: Indiana University Fort Wayne with 5,746 pounds
Last year, Indiana Tech finished 4th behind PFW, Manchester and St. Francis with a total of 14,027 pounds of food! This year, we are aiming to move up in the overall standings and beat our total from last year.
Use the secure link unique to Indiana Tech to donate online. Every dollar donated counts as four pounds of food!

Residence Life Announcement
We can’t believe that the fall semester is almost over! As we prepare for the end of the semester, please remember a few things:
1. Halls close Dec. 16, at noon
2. You are NOT required to move everything out of your student’s room at break if they are returning to Indiana Tech in the spring
3. All students need to complete the intent to return form in their housing portal by Dec. 1
4. Students who need to stay on campus during winter break must be approved by the Office of Residence Life

Office of Student Success
Spring registration is well underway! Many students have already registered, but it is not too late for those who still need to register. Each semester the Office of Student Success hosts clearing events to help gather students who still need to meet with their student success advisor before registration. The last clearing event for first-year students is Nov. 11 in the Office of Student Success. If the final clearing event is missed, first-year students can still be cleared to register but must make a one-on-one appointment with their student success advisor. Upperclassmen should meet with their academic advisor if they need assistance with registration or have questions. The Office of Student Success recently added Jared Meeks, a student success coach for upperclassmen, to our team. Jared is available to meet with upperclassmen and can help answer registration questions. Although Jared does not replace meeting with an academic advisor, he knows the registration process well and is always willing to help students.

Final thoughts from a fellow mom
Happy Fall! This is my favorite season of the year. Karl and I just celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary last week. We went out for a nice, quiet dinner and we reminisced about our dating days at Penn State University. We met during Karl’s freshman year, and we dated for five years before getting married. I wouldn’t change a thing!
Our son Thomas is adjusting to life in New York City and graduate school. Last weekend, he was able to take a train to New Jersey to visit my mom and Karl’s sister’s family. This was a great surprise for all of them as it has been a while that either of my boys have been able to visit relatives in New Jersey.
We also had the opportunity to visit Nicholas in Pittsburgh last weekend. Taking him out for dinner and spoiling him a little bit is one of my favorite things to do.
I hope you all have a wonderful November and a Happy Thanksgiving! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help your student have an even better experience at Indiana Tech!
