April is Autism Acceptance Month. This month is about more than just raising awareness; it is about embracing our friends, family members, and neighbors with autism in ways that promote understanding and belonging. At the Center, we strive to challenge misconceptions and equip communities to become places where every person is not only included but truly belongs. We are committed to advancing understanding through both research and real-world connection. This month, we look forward to two special events: a Baylor softball game in honor of Autism Awareness Month, and our third-annual Community Field Day. Both events offer an opportunity to gather, celebrate, and cheer on our Bears. We hope to see you there!

Your support of the Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing helps turn research into action—impacting classrooms, congregations, and communities across Texas and beyond. The Moody School of Education has named our Center as part of their signature outreach initiatives on Giving Day. Together, we are creating spaces where people with disabilities and their families flourish. Each donor who makes a gift of $25 or more will receive Sic’Em Socks! Give today.

Erik Carter was invited to speak at the inaugural TEDxBaylor University “Innovation in Deeds” event last fall. His talk, Belonging Together, Flourishing Together, highlights how disability inclusion strengthens communities and makes flourishing possible for all. He also recently joined Baylor Connections, the University’s official podcast, to share insights on the power of belonging in the lives of people with disabilities. Each captures our Center’s work to foster belonging across schools, congregations, workplaces, and communities. Learn more.
