Celebrate the End of the Semester
Join us next Friday, November 20, at the Reese-Shackelford Commons tent from 8 a.m. to noon to celebrate the last day of classes with donuts and coffee. We encourage everyone to spend a few minutes enjoying breakfast together and appreciating one another. It has been a unique and challenging semester, but also successful thanks to the dedication and commitment of Denison students, faculty, and staff.

Preparing for Winter Break: Move-Out Guide
If you plan to return to campus for spring semester, you do not need to schedule a move-out time.
- Be sure to take all items you need to finish the semester including laptops, chargers, and books.
- Pack important personal items like identification cards, passport, medication, bank, and credit cards.
- Clean your space and leave items neat and consolidated to one area of the room. Remove everything perishable, take out the trash and recycling, turn off lights and unplug electronics.
- Shut and lock windows, lock the door, and take your keys and ID. All doors will be locked after rooms are inspected by staff members.
If you are going remote or are considering moving to remote learning for spring semester, you will need to schedule a move-out time through ResComm.
- Take all belongings, clean your space, take out trash and recycling, and turn off lights. Shut and lock windows and lock the door.
- Return your keys to the dropbox (Doane, Curtis, P1.)
- Please discuss this with your roommate(s), because they will want to be proactive in filling the vacant space in the room.

Preparing for Winter Break: Travel Safely
Students are encouraged to review travel regulations for their destination. If traveling within the U.S., you can check each state's health department site or this compiled list. Please note that some states require the completion of a travelers’ form prior to arrival, along with specific restrictions and testing requirements after arrival. If traveling outside the U.S., you can consult this site with compiled information.
On the day of travel, it is recommended that students:
- Reduce the number of stops on the trip. Take a direct flight if possible, and if driving, pack food/snacks for the car trip home.
- Delay travel if sick or exposed.
- Take safety precautions during travel, especially if using public transportation. Wear a face covering at all times. Stay at least 6 feet away from other people; if not possible on public transportation, sit as far away from other passengers as possible. Carry and use hand sanitizer frequently.
- Use a disinfecting/sanitizing wipe to clean any touchable surfaces in the vehicle in which you are traveling. This includes planes, trains, and other forms of transportation.
- The least risky option is private transportation by yourself or your family members. If in a car with others outside the household, wear a mask and sit in the back seat if someone else is driving. If weather conditions permit, open the windows.

Return Home Safely: Protect Family & Friends The most cautious approach upon arrival home is to quarantine for the first 14 days after arrival or until after a test result is received. This is especially important if there are vulnerable, higher-risk individuals living in the home. Quarantining in your home includes:
- Staying home; not visiting public areas and avoiding gatherings.
- Separating yourself from other people. As much as possible, stay in a specific room and away from people in your home. If possible, you should use a separate bathroom. If you need to be around other people in or outside of your home, be sure to wear a mask covering your mouth and nose.
- Observe physical distancing, staying at least 6 feet from other people, and when around others, try to ensure good ventilation (open windows or doors).
- Avoid sharing personal household items. Do not share dishes, drinking glasses or cups, eating utensils, towels, or bedding with other people in your home. Wash dishes, cups, and utensils thoroughly after using them with soap and water or put in a dishwasher.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes. Throw away used tissues in a lined trash can. Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer often.
- Self-monitor for symptoms, including but not limited to fever, cough, and sore throat.

Are family members/helpers permitted in residence halls to help students leaving for semester break?
Helpers are permitted in residence halls to help students move personal items. Masks and social distancing are required. We ask that students have all items prepared in advance to ensure outside guests are in and out of buildings as quickly as possible. And please be respectful of roommates and give them a heads up that non-DU helpers will be present.
