SUE TROUT TO TEACH IN WESTMINSTER ACADEMY
Please join us as we read Daniel Mason's North Woods, a novel that looks at the history of one house and its inhabitants over four centuries.  The novel interrogates American history, American literature, and nation building, but at its heart is a novel about love, loss, and the possibilities in the afterlife.  Ultimately, the novel is a love song to the natural and supernatural worlds and the enduring human spirit. Join Belmont Professor and long-time WPC friend, Sue Tully Trout.

Presented by John Bailey
Jonathan Rauch, author of Cross Purposes, asserts that religion of mainline Christianity (the Presbyterian Church in the US and others) has become ’too thin to provide meaning and morals to the culture and thus to reliably support democratic society’.  We will discuss Rauch’s assertion and his suggestions as to what might be done to correct the apparent disfunction in our society and its present government.  Rauch, a life-long atheist says:  ‘Don’t be afraid.  Imitate Jesus.’

Musik Garten
Music and movement can have a dramatic effect on babies, toddlers, and older children. Some studies indicate that early music instruction positively impacts language and literacy development; others point to improved pattern recognition skills which are the basis for mathematical learning; still others reveal the social and emotional benefits of being involved in music. Given our long-standing reputation as the leader in the field of affordable early music education, Musikgarten can give your child a learning advantage for life.
Kelly Posey has been teaching music to preschoolers for over 23 years and is currently one of the music teachers at Westminster School for Young Children. She has been a certified MusikGarten teacher since 2007 and it is one of her biggest joys to be able to introduce the world of music to our youngest of God’s children.

Mardi Gras at Westminster
6:30 p.m. • Dinner • Fellowship Hall
7:30 p.m. • Concert • Sanctuary

Join us for a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper followed by a rousing concert by the Laudate Youth and Westminster Choirs featuring Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass. The choirs will be accompanied by piano, bass, and drums.
This Mardi gras concert is a fundraiser for our two choirs to serve as the choir in residence at Norwich Cathedral in Norwich, England, July 19-25, 2027. The building of this Cathedral began in 1100 A.D. and many of us know the writings of their ancient mystic, Julian of Norwich. The choir will sing Evensong daily and serve as the choir for Sunday morning worship that week. Norwich Cathedral has one of the finest Cathedral choirs in the UK and it is an intergenerational choir with children and youth serving as trebles for the choir. This is a great honor for our choirs, but we do need the help of Westminster to get there.
Please plan now to join us for a delicious and fun Mardi Gras celebration Westminster style, and support our choirs!
Reservations are required. Cost: $30 per person; children 12 and under eat free.
