Please share this with your staffers who are responsible for uploading ads to our statewide public notice site, SCPublicNotices.com.
Dear SCPA member,
We've received several questions recently about what types of legal/public notice ads should be uploaded to
SCPublicNotices.com. Legals are not just ads from law firms. There are several other types of notices that must be placed in newspapers to inform the public. We ask that all types of legal/public notice ads that run in your newspaper be uploaded to our site. This includes ads that run in your classified section as well as notices that run as display ads.
Here are some types of notices that should be posted to the site:
- Probate notices
- Notice to creditors
- Court summons and orders
- Notices from public bodies (elections, hearings, schedule of meetings, budgets, ordinances, property tax, land use)
- Government construction/invitations to bid
- Delinquent tax sales
- Notice of sale (including self storage units)
- Foreclosures
- Forfeiture/seizures
- Unclaimed vehicles
- Property auctions
- Permit and license applications
Basically any ad/notice that by law has to be published in your newspaper should be uploaded to the site.
Thank you for supporting this important project. We believe that there’s no better way to notify the public of government and court actions than through the combination of S.C. newspapers and
SCPublicNotices.com.
If you ever have a question about legal/public notice ads or how to upload ads to the site, please contact us.
Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
