- A big shout-out to Zelma Lee and Indy Griffin for putting together the 1st Chili Cook-off at E. D. Redd ES to boost staff morale. It was enjoyed by all!
- I would like to shout-out Ms. Morrison at Fairfield Court Elementary School! She is a ray of sunshine each morning as the students enter the school building. She works hard each day to show her expertise with the staff at FCES in data, instructional planning, and professional development!
- I'd like to send a huge shout-out to the Binford PTA! From supporting the staff any chance they get, to sponsoring field trips, the school musical, and sports teams...they show up for Binford in a big way. To top it all off, the PTA puts together a yearly art auction and fundraiser that takes a lot of planning, care, and coordination. We appreciate you!!!!
- Thank you, AP Anderson, Ms. Schoolfield, Ms.Terry, and our wonderful sub principal. They make a great team at LHES. Thank you for caring about our children and keeping them safe. We love you all.
- I would like to shout-out Dr. Johnnye Massenburg Johnson (Dr. MJ), a retired RPS principal. Dr. MJ is working as an AP at Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School. She is an excellent resource and shares a tremendous wealth of knowledge about school policies and protocols. Dr. MJ is always ready to support our students, staff and parents with a smile on her face. Dr. MJ is truly a vital part of the Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School family. You are greatly appreciated!
- Shout-out to Beth Sawyer, Bellevue Elementary School’s awesome STEAM teacher. She is always willing to help and integrate STEAM into our classes. She helps to organize and shares resources, and she is so appreciated! She also has a secret snack stash for teachers. ;) Thanks for all you do, Ms. Sawyer!!
- I would like to shout-out all the exceptional education team members at River City Middle School for the amazing job they are doing daily! Team members are supportive of one another and working through all the challenges. Keep up the great job, team!!
- Shout-out to Ms. McKinnon at Miles Jones ES! She always goes above and beyond to help out when needed and does a great job teaching our students! She is a great asset on our campus and we are blessed to have her!
- Shout-out to Andrea Stewart, the academic/IB coordinator at Chimborazo! She did an amazing job taking on the testing coordinator role during VGA testing this week. She is a pro's pro and just super competent at completing any task thrown her way. We see you, Ms. Stewart.
- I would like to give a huge shout-out to AP Terry Seay-Anderson at Linwood Holton. She has been a beacon of light this year. She always leads with love, supports all of the staff, and is always showing what it means to be an awesome administration.
- Kudos to the entire Carver Elementary School community! Yesterday, Governor and First Lady Youngkin received a warm welcome on their visit to the school where they read in a classroom and toured the Literacy Lab. They were greeted by administrators, faculty, volunteers, and School Board Member Ms. Mariah White — all proud members of the Carver family. The Governor was there to emphasize his strong support for the recently passed Virginia Literacy Act, which will commence in the 2024-2025 school year. In Ms. Alexis Evans’ first grade class, the Governor and First Lady read to an engaged, responsive audience. The post-reading question & answer period with the Governor was absolutely delightful! In the Learning Lab, Ms. Cantrise Mayfield, assistant principal, and Ms. Sherry Paulchell, literary coach, briefed the Governor on the school’s approach to teaching literacy. They also spoke with great appreciation of the school’s partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Richmond: for awarding several grants for the lab’s renovation and for reading regularly in Carver classrooms. Dr. Giles, principal of Carver currently on leave, would have been proud of the team of faculty and staff (as well as volunteers) she has assembled. Her strong leadership in establishing learning expectations at Carver and setting the overall tone was clearly evident at the school yesterday. We look forward to her return to Carver Elementary School.
- I would like to shout-out Latonya Oliver at Fox Elementary School. She has shown students and staff her unwavering support and we love her for that!
- I would like to shout-out Patricia Hughes and Tina Hutchinson for being nurturers and instructional support at Swansboro Elementary School.
- I would like to shout-out the custodial staff at Boushall Middle School. If ever a group of people deserves everything for the work that they do for our students and staff, it would be them. Under the leadership of John Thombs, we thank you.
- I would like to give a shout-out and a happy early birthday to the amazingly talented Cardinal Elementary artist, Mr. Gilliam. He paints beautiful murals all over this school that not only warm our hearts, but give our halls and walls that special touch.
