Now that summer is fully ripe, this animation above by Libby VanderPloeg pretty much sums up how I want to be spending my time. And yet, so much is happening in the world that requires so much more than that.
Personally, I'm finishing up a new film for Planned Parenthood that will come out very soon. At our film studio, Let it RIpple, we're gearing up for the fifth annual Character Day set for Sept 26th. Loved seeing how many of you signed up from that last email. We have such a beautiful engaged community. Thank you for being all in with us. We will have 50/50 Day updates soon. Also, save the date: I'm co-leading a workshop Nov 30-Dec 2 at the gorgeous new retreat center Multiversity (nestled in the redwoods of Santa Cruz) on practicing the Screen-Free Tech Shabbat Experience. My two other co-pilots for this workshop will be my partner in everything (children, art & life), Ken Goldberg, who is an artist & robotics professor at UC Berkeley; and the super funny and insightful Sydney Mintz, rabbi at Temple Emanu-El. During this weekend of discussion, learning, and good food in nature, Ken and I will share our decade-long practice of going screen-free with our kids from Friday night to Saturday night. Sydney will guide us along with historical context and share her wisdom on the subject. The weekend is for anyone who thinks they are on screens too much individually, as a couple, or as a family. I will be sending a sign up link very soon.
In this seasonal dispatch, there are lots of books, films, art shows, and events happening now and in the fall and things to ponder in the sunshine... xo, Tiffany

Cynthia Nixon for Governor of NYCI recently was at a house party for Cynthia Nixon's run for Governor. I was so impressed with her authenticity and vision for NYC. She was raised in NYC by a single mom in the NYC public school system and sends her kids there now. In addition to her plans for public education, I loved hearing about her plans for the state. All my New York friends on this list, I highly recommend watching her talks and plans at her site cynthiafornewyork.com.
