Dear Parents and Families,
Greetings from the Medford/Somerville and Fenway campuses! Our many colleagues in Academic Advising and Student Affairs are busy preparing for your student to join us in September. We're looking forward to welcoming them to the Tufts community!
To kick the summer off, we invite you join us for our Welcome to Tufts webinar for parents and families on Thursday, June 3 at 7 p.m. EDT. During this event, you have the opportunity to meet the Dean of Students Affairs, hear from some of the Orientation staff, learn about the New Student Checklist, and ask questions.
Questions must be submitted in advance and pre-registration is required. This meeting is not intended for students. Don't worry if this time doesn't work for you, we'll make a video recording and post it to our website a few days after the event.

Additional Information

Tufts University is closely monitoring the ongoing situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its impact on the start of the fall semester as well as Undergraduate Orientation. While we plan to be fully in-person and on-campus this fall semester, Pre-Orientation and Orientation plans are yet to be finalized. As of now, we are planning virtual programs with the hope of being able to offer some in-person experiences. As plans are confirmed and decisions are made, we will update students and their families. Additional information and Frequently Asked Questions regarding Tufts' response to COVID-19 can be found at coronavirus.tufts.edu.

What We Know Now

New Student Orientation will run from Thursday, September 2 to Monday, September 6. On Tuesday, September 7, the University celebrates Rosh Hashanah. Therefore, classes will begin on Wednesday, September 8. Orientation will be presented virtually with the hopes of adding some small group in-person programming opportunities. The annual Matriculation Ceremony and other optional parent and family programming will be presented virtually on Thursday, September 2, at a time to be announced. These programs will be recorded and posted to our website to be watched at your convenience. While parents and families will be able to assist their students with arrival, there will be no on-campus, in-person programming for parents and families. NOTE: While we hope all new students will be on campus during Orientation, we have no information at this time on what arrival and move-in dates will be. Students and families will be updated throughout the summer as our plans develop. Updated arrival information will also be available through the Office of Residential Life and Learning.
During the summer, we'll be sending periodic emails to introduce parents and families to campus resources and administration. We also invite you to explore our resources for parents and families online.

New Student Checklist 2021

Your student has a few important tasks to complete over the summer, many of which can be completed online. We list all items on their customized New Student Checklist 2021, which will open June 1 on their Application Status page.

Messages Your Student Will Receive This Summer

This summer, we're sending a message to incoming students each week to help them stay up to date and on track for Orientation in September. We're also introducing students to various departments and resources at Tufts. We keep all our messages in an online archive in case they miss a mailing or would like to review information a second time.
