Halloween reminders
october 29, 2021
Dear Students,
As Halloween approaches, we write to remind you to participate in Halloween activities mindful of the safety precautions necessary during the COVID pandemic and the good judgment needed for all of us to thrive in our community. We encourage you to also explore the numerous Halloween themed activities on JumboLife.
Observe all COVID-19 safety protocols during Halloween weekend.
All COVID policies must be followed over the Halloween weekend and during the rest of the semester. Please take special care to observe these two key behaviors that are particularly critical to everyone’s health over the Halloween period:
  1. Wear a mask if you are indoors, on and off campus. Costume masks do not meet the requirements for wearing a face covering. As usual, wear a high-quality mask that covers your nose and mouth while indoors.
  2. Avoid large indoor parties or Halloween parties in nightclubs. Large, indoor gatherings are the highest risk for virus transmission, particularly when some people are removing their masks to eat or drink.
Help fellow Jumbos
Jumbos look out for one another. If you or a friend need help, please call Public Safety for medical assistance and know that we will prioritize your health and safety. To help you do that without worrying about possible consequences, we have policies in place that waive disciplinary action for students who seek medical help for themselves or others. These policies are the Amnesty Through Responsible Action Policy and the Pandemic Amnesty Policy and they cover violations of alcohol and substance abuse, and COVID safety protocols.
Tufts’ Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy remains in place over Halloween as usual. Keep your safety and that of others in mind, and if you are over 21 and choose to drink, do so in moderation. It is much more challenging to observe COVID safety protocols and make other responsible decisions while intoxicated.
Accessing the rooftop of a University building is strictly prohibited.
In years past, a small number of students have placed pumpkins in dangerously high places on campus around Halloween. Accessing rooftops is dangerous and Public Safety will increase vigilance throughout campus during Halloween. Students who violate the Unauthorized Access Policy or other parts of the Student Code of Conduct will face disciplinary consequences.
Please celebrate Halloween responsibly and enjoy the holiday.
Wishing you a safe and Happy Halloween,
