David Smelser, assistant director of sponsored programs in the Office of Research and Engagement, has been elected to the board of Region III of the National Council of University Research Administrators.
The metallurgy program in UT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering was recently ranked the No. 1 program in the US for the third year in a row. The department was sixth in the world overall, only a few points removed from the third spot.

Scott D. Stewart named new director of West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center—Four UT student startups received funding awards from Boyd Venture Challenge—Christopher R. Narayanan named Area Farm Management Specialist for UT Extension—Ozlem Kilic and Veerle Keppens chosen as fellows in the IAspire Leadership Academy—Jacob Gorton and Richard Hernandez received Innovations in Nuclear Technology R and D Award.
