Tritz, Stoessel & Hartigan 2019 Inductees
Into IGHSAU Volleyball Hall of Fame
Carli Tritz of Sioux City Bishop Heelan, Sumner's Annie Stoessel and Lea Hartigan of Treynor are the 2019 inductees into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union's Volleyball Hall of Fame. The trio will be inducted prior to the start of the Class 4A state championship match Friday, November 15 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
Tritz starred at Sioux City Bishop Heelan from 2006-2009. She helped the Crusaders reach four state tournaments and was named to the all-tournament team all three times. She was a three time all-state selection and was named elite all-state her senior season when she averaged three kills and three digs a match. An outstanding all-around athlete, Carli was Miss Iowa Basketball in 2010 and played college basketball at Creighton. Tritz is the first athlete to be inducted into both the IGHSAU Basketball and Volleyball Hall of Fame.
Stoessel played for Sumner from 1992-to-1995, where was a three time first team all-state selection and was twice named to the Elite All-State Team. She averaged nearly 4.5 kills a set in leading Sumner to state tournament appearances in 1993, 94 and 95. In 1994, she had 23 kills, seven digs and 11 blocks in the state championship match and was named captain of the Class 1A all-tournament team. Stoessel went on to play four seasons at the University of Illinois.
Hartigan played at Treynor from 2003-to-2006. A three time first team all-state selection and four year starter, Hartigan finished her career with 1,322 kills, 934 digs and 128 blocks as Treynor reached the state tournament all four seasons she played. Hartigan was a two-time all-tournament team selection and was named the Class 2A Player of the Year in 2006. She continued her volleyball career at Wayne State and averaged over two kills a set for her four-year career while helping Wayne State reach the NCAA Division II Tournament four times.
