Falling Asleep Faster Using Mindfulness Meditation
"Do you feel sleepy during the day, but then your mind starts racing as soon as you climb into bed? Or do you often wake up suddenly at 3 a.m. only to lie there, staring at the ceiling until the sun comes up? If so, you may be one of the 50 to 70 million adults who struggle with sleep. Sleep disturbances are common year-round but can spike during time changes like Daylight Saving Time (DST). Even though the fall time change appears to offer us an extra hour, it confuses the body’s natural circadian rhythm in a way that’s similar to jet lag. Because of this, many adults experience less sleep over the course of the week following DST in the fall."
Learn more about how mindfulness practices can improve sleep quality at the PDX CampusWell.

Students can find Zero 26 near the FMH tunnel entrance and sub-basement stair, next to the elevators. A PSU ID is needed for entry.

[from the vpsa]I stumbled upon a story in the Oregonian entitled Database of regrets captures our lost loves, missed opportunities, as well as our growth. The article notes that we all probably have some regrets, large and small, whether we dismiss them or stew over them. The article shares a new database, the World Regret Survey, where we can all find out how our regrets compare to those more than 15,000 other people. While the topic of regret may seem dark, I actually found the database offering hope and consolation, because it helps us recognize that we are all human and we all make mistakes in our lives. It also made me ask myself: what can we all do, in our lives, our work and our relationships with one another, to make sure that when this academic year comes to an end, we are filled with joy and a sense of accomplishment, not regret?
