While there may not be a Yellow Jacket among this year’s Heisman Trophy finalists, the award wouldn’t exist if not for Georgia Tech, where John Heisman made his career. He served as head coach for 16 seasons and led the team to a national championship in 1917. He coached the legendary 1916 game against Cumberland University that Georgia Tech won 222-0, the most lopsided victory in college football history.
