Welcome to the April edition of the Warrior Family Association
e-newsletter. The spring semester is almost over, and soon our graduates will be walking across the stage at our May 10 commencement ceremonies. It’s almost time for me to get tissues ready to wipe away tears, as I shake hands and give hugs to our students walking down from the stage. If you are attending graduation for your student, please see me so I can congratulate you. Our students get to this day with a lot of love and support from you—and I want to recognize your accomplishment, too!
If your student is graduating in May, please be sure to look at the “dates to remember” section of this newsletter below for the schedule. Please also check out our commencement web page to learn more about this year’s speaker and to read other important information about the day. Also, scroll down the commencement web page to check out President Einolf’s classic video from Commencement 2018 when we told the story of updating Indiana Tech’s Alma Mater! The graduation ceremony will be livestreamed beginning Saturday, May 10 at 12:30 p.m. You may access the livestream and more information about commencement here: commencement.indianatech.edu.

Dr. Suzanne Beyeler - Associate Professor of Biology- I love all animals! Our household has six cats, 11 turtles, seven chickens, a dog named Marshall and too many fish to count.
- I love spending time in the woods looking for salamanders and birdwatching.
- We have slowly been transforming our yard into a foodscape mixed with pollinator habitat. Each spring we set our yard on fire to make it more beautiful!

Craig Dyer - Associate Professor of Sport Management- My wife, Teresa, and I both earned our Master of Business Administration degrees from Indiana Tech. I'm a 2004 graduate and Teresa graduated in 2024.
- After finishing my Undergraduate degree, I spent five months working as an athletic training intern at the United States Merchant Marine Academy located at Kings Point, New York.
- My wife and I have a bucket list goal to visit every Major League Baseball stadium. So far, we have visited 13 out of 30 stadiums. Our favorite stadiums are Wrigley Field, Fenway Park and PNC Park.
- I love the outdoors, and my favorite outdoor activities are fishing, kayaking and hiking.
- I got to meet Hall of Famer and two-time World Series Champion, Johnny Bench—Cincinnati Reds catcher. Fun fact: Johnny Bench can hold seven baseballs in one hand.

Tammy Barker - Assistant Dean of Online Learning, Professor of Practice of Mathematics- I love going to cardio classes at the gym. It's my happy place.
- I have over 800 YouTube videos that are mostly about math but also include tutorials for instructors.
- My husband and I have been married for 10 years. In that time we've lived in Tampa, Sao Paulo, Las Vegas, San Diego and Parrish.
- I can often tell you where I made a YouTube video based on the background noises. Planes mean Sao Paulo, chirping birds mean San Diego and lawn mowers are living in Parrish, Florida.

Final Thoughts from a Fellow MomEarlier this month, Karl and I attended the NAIA national convention in San Diego. Karl serves as the chair of the board for the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and he represents the WHAC on the NAIA’s Council of Presidents (the NAIA’s Board of Directors). Beginning in July, Karl will be the chair of the NAIA’s Council of Presidents (he has a hard time saying no to things), so he spent time at the convention shadowing the current chair. The NAIA launched their “Right Way to Play” marketing campaign at the convention, and it reminds me that our student-athletes at Indiana Tech are students first. The NAIA’s model for the student-athlete experience, focused on the education and well-being of the student, is the right way to run an athletics program. Karl is especially excited about the number of NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III colleges and universities that are currently considering moving to the NAIA.
Karl and I just returned from Pittsburgh where we spent Easter weekend with our sons. Nicholas made a Bolognese sauce from scratch, so he and I spent Saturday afternoon making lasagna. He used my recipe from Italy, and the secret of the sauce is that the lasagna does not have any ricotta cheese! Instead of ricotta, it has Bechamel sauce in the layers and then mozzarella on top. It came out delicious!
Thomas and his girlfriend, Victoria, drove to Pittsburgh from New York City for the holiday weekend. On Sunday, we joined Victoria’s extended family—there were almost 30 of us—for an Easter brunch which was fabulous. Could it have been a preview of a future wedding gathering? We’ll see! I am looking forward to having grandchildren in the future! The weather was supposed to be cloudy with showers on Sunday, but it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. We will be back in Pittsburgh in two weeks to cheer Thomas on as he runs a half-marathon on Sunday, May 4.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the spring semester! Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or your student.
