Greetings,
Last week, I delivered the annual State of the University address and shared Hofstra's progress, accomplishments, and key strategies for shaping its future through innovation in academics and student support.
During the State of the University, I unveiled Hofstra 100, the new strategic plan that will take the University through the next decade to its centennial in 2035. A core component of that strategic plan is to deepen Hofstra’s connection with Long Island and beyond by fostering meaningful partnerships that serve both the community and the University’s educational mission. The plan encourages faculty, staff, and students to engage in local and global projects that drive positive social impact. We look forward to working with you on a shared goal of service to and with the community.
Thank you for your continued support of Hofstra University.
Sincerely,
Susan Poser

Hofstra students continued their tradition of supporting the local community by cleaning area beaches, volunteering at a food pantry, and working at a local farm. “I think that it’s important to help out as students,” said Tiana Howell, a junior radio, television, film major from Queens Village, NY. “People think that giving back means you have to give money or buy expensive stuff… but giving back can simply mean giving your time without expecting anything in return.” Read more here.

The Maurice A. Deane School of Law is partnering with New York City Councilwoman Adrienne Adams to offer free estate planning services to qualified participants on Tuesday, October 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at YWCA of Queens, 42-07 Parsons Blvd. “Hofstra law is pleased to join forces in this offering to the community to help individuals to preserve the wealth to the next generation, given that generational wealth building usually takes a generation or two. We do so also in the spirit of celebrating those who are in a position to do so, after working hard for themselves and their families,” said Akilah N. Folami, Professor of Law, Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. Interested participants must fill out the questionnaire by October 1.
