Peer Review for Health Professions Education (HPE) Grants

Are you preparing a health professions education (HPE) grant and want feedback before submission?

The Academy of Educators is excited to launch a new peer grant review consultation service open to all SMHS faculty. Through this initiative, you can receive peer feedback from Academy members on your grant application to improve your grant proposal before submission. 

What we offer:
  • Peer review of regional and/or national HPE grants (e.g., AAMC, GEA, etc.)
  • Targeted written feedback from experienced faculty
  • An optional follow-up consultation meeting to discuss comments
Criteria:
  • Must be faculty within GW Medicine/SMHS to receive a review
  • The proposal must be focused on medical or health professions education
  • Must submit request at least 6 weeks prior to the grant submission deadline

The Master Teacher Leadership Development Program (MTLDP) is a 10-month, 5-course, cohort-based program for SMHS faculty who teach medical and/or health sciences students, residents, and/or fellows. The program's purposes are to enhance teaching skills, develop education leadership potential, and foster scholarship in education. Dr. Ahdeah Pajoohesh-Ganji Awarded International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) Grant


Congratulations to Dr. Ahdeah Pajoohesh-Ganji who received a grant from the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) for her project titled:
“And you yourselves are also this will to power--and nothing besides!’: Medical students and the purpose of medical education.”

This innovative project explores the philosophical underpinnings of medical education and the evolving role of medical students in shaping its purpose.

CFE Faculty Education Technology Support Office Hours

Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00 pm

Do you need help designing an educational session or using a new teaching technology? Teddy Hristov, the CFE Senior Instructional Designer, holds weekly office hours to support faculty. These office hours are designated for discussing and practicing the best use of educational technology and pedagogical teaching and learning methods. Do not hesitate to contact her if you have questions about completing a session design worksheet.

AAMC AI Skill Building for Medical Educators Webinar Series 

Register for the Webinar Series: AI Skill Building for Medical Educators, Ten sessions explore AI use and help educators enhance their skills and confidence in the proper application of generative AI practices. The webinars are free with a free membership and continue throughout the year. Recordings and additional references, and resources are available.

Call for NEGEA Grants - Medical Education Scholarship Research and Evaluation (MESRE) Mini-Grant

The NEGEA provides funding to initiate new MESRE projects and to stimulate the development of a community of educational scholars. Projects promoting collaboration across institutions and sections (UME, GME, CPD) are encouraged. The NEGEA may award multiple grants up to $3,500 for single-institution submissions and $7,500 for multi-institution submissions each cycle. This is a two-year award.
