Tim Cain
Tim Cain Has Customer Service Down to a Fine Art
Tim Cain (he/him) was nominated by a Port of Portland employee:
"Tim was bringing a passenger in a wheelchair to Concourse B. While passing by the beautiful paintings along the wall, Tim slowed down so the guest could see and appreciate the art. While their conversation was not heard, it was clear Tim and the guest were talking about the art. Tim took the time to be friendly while doing his work. Kindness does not cost a thing, but is worth so much!"

During Bike Month, Glenn Woodman May Inspire You to Pedal More
Did you ride your bike to work this week? PDX Airside Operations Planner Glenn Woodman did! Glenn has been pedaling his way to work, rain or shine, for over two decades, racking up an impressive 45,000 miles on his trusty bike. He started 24 years ago after a heart attack led him to prioritize his health and start riding with his 11-year-old son. Head over to the new Port of Portland Instagram to learn more about Glenn's commitment to cycling, his favorite destination and pit stop, and what he wears to stay warm and dry, whatever the weather might be.
If Glenn's story has you excited to get pedaling, Bike Portland shared that an extension of the 40-Mile Loop route along the Columbia River in Troutdale is nearing completion. The new path, which the City of Troutdale named the Ch’ak Ch’ak Trail (the name means Bald Eagle in the Chinuk Wawa language), connects a gap in the 40-Mile Loop, giving bicycle riders a safe, car-free alternative to busy streets like Northeast Marine Drive, Northwest Frontage Road and Graham Road.

Biden Signs Sweeping Aviation Safety, Reform Bill into Law
President Biden recently signed sweeping aviation legislation that will boost U.S. air traffic controller staffing, increase funding to avert runway close-call incidents and speed up refunds for canceled flights. Also included in the five-year FAA reauthorization bill are some key PDX priorities. Most notably, increasing Airport Infrastructure Program funding for the next several years and expanding it to include resilience projects, and authorizing grants to help airports transition to fluorine-free foam while providing retroactive funding for airports like PDX that are already making the transition.
Portland Airport Fire and Rescue Shift A

Our Portland Airport Fire and Rescue emergency response personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and charged with the responsibility to serve and protect employees, the traveling public and our surrounding community.
To stay at the top of their game, our firefighters follow an extremely strict training regimen that’s required by the Federal Aviation Administration. Every year – once in the spring and again in the fall – the firefighters do live fire training. This training is just one of many pieces required to maintain FAA certification and without it, PDX wouldn't be able to operate.
In addition, once every three years, the FAA mandates training at an approved location that’s not PDX, and this year, the fire team traveled to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. DFW boasts the largest aircraft rescue firefighting training facility in North America, and our firefighters spent the day fighting fire and honing other skills, including search and rescue.
Thank you to Portland Airport Fire and Rescue for your training efforts and for helping keep PDX safe!
