March 16, 2020
TO: Faculty and Staff
FROM: Grafton Nunes
As we begin a week of unexpected challenges in the face of the coronavirus, I thank you for the hard work you’ve been doing to make the transition to online learning as smooth as it can be under the circumstances.
I know you have questions regarding the details of how you’ll perform your job duties in the coming weeks. While our initial efforts were focused on access to facilities and the remote delivery of education to our students, we now have a few updates that pertain specifically to CIA employees.

Beginning Wednesday, March 18, we are asking that faculty and staff work remotely if at all possible. While there is no current plan to close the Gund building completely, we ask that people be here only if it’s absolutely necessary. Please talk to your supervisor to determine whether that applies to you. In some cases, employees may be asked to alternate on-site shifts with team members.
Your remote work will take place during the hours you would usually be doing your job, and you will need to be accessible by phone or email. You will continue to be paid, and you won’t need to complete a time sheet.

You’ll be hearing more details from your supervisor soon, and we will be creating an FAQ page for employees, which will be posted at cia.edu/healthalerts. If you have general questions relating to employee benefits during this time, feel free to contact Charise Reid, Vice President of Human Resources and Inclusion, by email or at 216.421.7312.

Again, I want to thank you for how you’ve stepped up during a difficult time. I am most grateful.
