Your Impact: Stepping Into the Adventure of a Lifetime
|
SYA’s Class of 2023 has been fully immersed in studying and living abroad for nearly two months now. Similar to those that preceded them, this year’s students come from all walks of life, allowing for a robust exchange of ideas and perspectives.
This year, nearly half of SYA families received financial aid, with an average grant of $40,700. In addition to the need-based aid provided for our families each year, we are fortunate to award several student scholars thanks to our generous donors.
Education is a source of opportunity and through your support of financial aid, you are investing in an SYAer’s future. We are pleased to introduce our ten named scholars who are off to a great start in Rennes, Viterbo and Zaragoza this year!

Last month we put out a call for alumni authors, writers, poets, journalists and others who work with the written word. And, there's still time to add your works to the compilation.

| It's Travel Season for the Admissions Team
|
The team has been busy this fall traveling the country to talk with future SYAers. We are also hosting virtual and in-person information sessions for interested students and their families. If you know students who would might be interested in our full year, semester or summer programs, please forward the link and encourage them to learn more. Students often learn about SYA from friends or family members!

Our student writers are busy sharing their time France, Italy and Spain. Be sure to follow us on Instagram or TikTok to follow along with their adventures learning, living and growing during their time abroad.
Linda writes story about standing in Place de Bretagne with classmates, "each holding a big map in their hands looking like a flock of sheep who lost their shepherd, eyeing left and right for someone to come and pull them out of this dream."
Madeline writes about the uneasiness felt those first few days in Zaragoza, being away from all the familiar. And realizing, at the most unexpected moment, "a sense of belonging, a feeling of home ... Despite moving so far away, to this unfamiliar land and culture, I feel so far from alone."
Hope connects new experiences with her French family along the Brittany coast to childhood memories. Simple things like foraging wild berries, or hiking along boulders, washed away the early days of homesickness.
