Welcome to the inaugural issue of CIRT's New Quizzes Insider!

You may have heard that the Canvas feature, New Quizzes, is coming soon to UNF. This newsletter has been created to provide regular updates on the New Quizzes transition process, ensuring you stay informed and prepared every step of the way.

If this is your first time hearing about New Quizzes, we invite you to check out our recent blog post to learn more about why this transition is important for the future of online learning in Canvas.

CIRT is committed to supporting a smooth transition to New Quizzes. To this end, we will provide ongoing communication, training, and dedicated resources to ensure that faculty feel confident and supported during the transition process.

FALL 2023

New Quizzes functionality was introduced in the testing instance of Canvas in Fall 2023, and the Online Learning Support Team at CIRT has been working with the tool to learn its quirks and create support documentation. Although the tool still has some known limitations, we feel comfortable releasing it to campus.

SUMMER 2024

New Quizzes functionality will officially become available to UNF faculty on May 24, 2024, and will run in tandem with Classic Quizzes. Faculty will be able to use both New Quizzes and Classic Quizzes until they are satisfied with the new tool’s functionality. In fact, because Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes are entirely different tools, faculty can ease into the transition by using both in the same class, so there's no pressure to switch immediately.

FALL 2025 & BEYOND

Although the long-term goal is for all UNF courses to fully adopt New Quizzes by Fall 2025, we won’t remove access to Classic Quizzes until everyone is comfortable and all quirks are addressed.

In our efforts to support those transitioning to New Quizzes, CIRT is excited to release the New Quizzes Hub, a one-stop shop for UNF faculty adopting the tool. On the Hub, you'll find the latest news, updates, support documentation, and training materials to help you transition from Classic to New Quizzes. You'll also find information on CIRT's New Quizzes migration services.

As usage grows, so will the Hub. We plan to keep the Hub updated with all the latest information on New Quizzes.

The New Quizzes Hub is a comprehensive resource offering all the information, training, and support you'll need for a smooth transition. Explore the New Quizzes Hub today and enhance your assessment experience with New Quizzes at UNF!

CIRT is committed to offering a wide variety of training and support opportunities to faculty across a range of mediums. In addition to Instructure's full library of guides, CIRT has created several resources to assist with the transition to New Quizzes (all of which are located on the Hub). 

We will soon be adding face-to-face and virtual events to the CIRT Training Calendar, and we'll be sure to advertise these events in future issues of this newsletter, as well as in Osprey Update and social media.
