PDX People Honored at Customer Service Awards |
The best part of traveling through PDX isn't always the destination. Sometimes it's the person who takes an extra minute to help, steps in when something goes wrong, or notices a small thing that can make someone's day a whole lot easier.
These moments happen every day, thanks to employees who bring kindness, quick thinking, and a genuine willingness to help to their work. Offering directions, calling for emergency support, and even printing QR codes might not be in their job description, but they're all part of the job for PDX People.
Each quarter, the PDX People customer service awards celebrate employees whose actions exemplify our core values of being friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. Read more about employees recognized for going above and beyond from July through September 2026.
Want to learn more about PDX People recognition? Check out the recognition programs on the PDX People website. You can also nominate an employee who embodies the PDX People values and serves as a shining example of great customer service for next quarter – submit a nomination now.

now easier to answer! New water bottle refill stations have been added just past TSA and near the all-user restrooms in the north and south concession halls.
South Tunnel Closure: Starting Monday, Nov. 9, the east end of the south tunnel will close to begin the process of adding an additional moving walkway. This closure is expected to remain in place through early 2027. Signage will be in place to help direct travelers, and access to the Security Badging Office remains the same.
Concourse Connector Closure: As a reminder, the Concourse Connector will close nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. as crews install metal security screen track curtains overhead. The north end will close starting today (Monday, Nov. 2) through Friday, Nov. 8, and the south end will close Monday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 13.
Crews will pause work for emergency responder access and access the Pet Relief Area. Passengers with flights connecting between the concourses will need to exit and be re-screened at the appropriate TSA checkpoint.

PDX Employee Smoking Area |
|
|
|
As part of the Safety Management System (SMS), we'll periodically share reminders and information on pertinent safety issues.
Did you know that there’s a smoking area airside, just east of Gate C4? A painted outline marks the space and there are two receptacles available.
|
|
| |
|
For the safety of your co-workers, preventing fire hazards, and reducing FOD, here are a few reminders:
|
-
Smoking is only allowed in the designated area. This meets state requirements to stay at least 10 feet away from doors and windows. Smoking outside this area violates PDX rules and the Oregon Clean Air Act.
- These rules apply to smoking, vaping, and other inhaled aerosols.
- Use the bins for cigarette butts and trash. If the cigarette bin is full, call 503.460.4683 for service.
-
No eating is allowed in the area, and no chairs, buckets, or coolers.
- To report a safety concern, visit flypdx.com/sms.

Aeroméxico Announces Return to PDX in 2027 |

Last week, Aeroméxico and Delta announced that daily nonstop service between Portland and Mexico City is returning, starting Jan. 21, 2027. This is great news for PDX, our tourism partners, and our regional economy – all of which will benefit from the year-round, nonstop flight that creates connectivity throughout Mexico and

Seeing a creature roaming around PDX isn't entirely out of the ordinary – Bigfoot Bae perhaps? – but this weekend there was a sizeable uptick in unusual sightings! From teams of superheroes to ghostly canines, it was a very entertaining (but not too scary) Halloween.
