Get to Know... Lisa Mudryk, WYSU-FM's new Business Operations Specialist
| |
Cindy Bella, our tremendous Business Operations Specialist (formerly Administrative Assistant) retired at the end of March. The thought of losing Cindy made me quite nervous, as what she did for us was unique and complex, and frankly a mystery to me. The rest of us know just bits and pieces of her responsibilities. Fortunately, after a YSU internal search, Lisa Mudryk came riding to the rescue (you can hear both the heroic Introduction and the famous Galop from Franz van Suppé's Light Cavalry Overture in the background if you try).
Lisa has worked in the YSU Finance and Business Operations for many years, so knows the YSU purchasing system inside and out, which gets her off to a great start at WYSU; and she knows practically everyone on campus, which is also extremely useful.
Lisa is the first point of contact for almost everything at WYSU. That includes anything relating to your donation and day sponsorship, WYSU purchases, budget questions, student employment, and a number of other things. If your question or request needs to get to another staff person, Lisa and her student staff will connect you to them.
Lisa supervises most of our student workers, and has great experience in that area as well, having supervised numerous student workers during her time at YSU. You cannot diminish how important a supervisor like Lisa is to student success on campus and off.
I appreciate so much how Lisa has been very game in learning all that is unique to this position. She has a fantastic can-do attitude; and although we all miss Cindy, we could not have asked for a better person to follow her. Lisa is kind and friendly, and such a wonderful addition to our staff.
Lisa is a Youngstown native and currently resides in Struthers with her husband and two teenage boys.

On Being Ending its Radio Run
| |
Krista Tippett, the longtime, beloved host of On Being (which aired on Sunday mornings at 7:00 on WYSU-FM), decided to wind down the radio show this month, and turn On Being into a seasonal podcast.
What On Being offered was unparalleled in public radio, and WYSU-FM is incredibly grateful for the insight and inspiration the show brought to our listeners for the past two decades. As the show neared its final episodes on the radio, it did so airing on a total of 389 stations. WYSU is proud to have been one of those stations, and we wish Krista and her team the very best as they start a new chapter for On Being.
We would like to thank On Being for its many years on WYSU, and also thank the show's many faithful listeners.
