The Federal Parkway Improvements Project will widen Federal Parkway between 120th and 122nd avenues to four lanes, creating consistent travel lanes to support safer, smoother travel for everyone who uses the corridor. The City is ready to begin construction in 2026.
The project will also:
| -
Build a median to separate northbound and southbound lanes.
- Install bike lanes.
- Add a pedestrian crossing and connection to Big Dry Creek Trail.
- Address drainage issues and improve stormwater quality.
- A separate project will add streetlights to this corridor.

Construction is expected to begin in February 2026 and end in summer 2027.

The contractor will start to mobilize equipment and materials to the work zone shortly. Initial work activities include:
| - Placing construction signs and temporary erosion control measures.
- Installing stormwater improvements and drainage infrastructure.
One lane in each direction will remain open during construction. Business and neighborhood access will be provided at all times, but turning restrictions may be in place during some project phases.
Working hours are from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional night work and weekend activities are possible.
We are making every effort to minimize inconvenience and to complete work as efficiently and safely as possible.

Federal Parkway, designated as a major arterial roadway, is located in north Westminster and serves as an extension of Federal Boulevard. In 2016, the City partnered with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to improve the intersection of Federal Boulevard and 120th Avenue. Around the same time, private development widened Federal Parkway from Zuni Street to 122nd Avenue.
Federal Parkway currently functions as an inconsistent corridor, with two travel lanes in some segments and four travel lanes in others. The project will remove one of these segments and improve overall safety for this corridor.
In addition to City funds, Westminster has secured $3 million in grant funding and is ready to start construction in February 2026.
