From the Office of the Dean |
Happy Monday afternoon, everyone!
This Dean’s newsletter finds our new College incredibly busy, as always! In the last two weeks, we’ve hosted our Undergraduate Open House, as well as a Graduate Open House, so our dedicated faculty, student ambassadors, graduate assistants, and administrators have welcomed hundreds of prospective Pirates and helped spread the good word about our amazing academic and co-curricular programs. In addition, this past weekend SHU Theatre was the site of another fantastic production, Almost, Maine, directed by our own Deirdre Yates! We’ve also hosted another amazing event sponsored by our Center for Sports Media, featuring SHU alum Bob Picozzi and trailblazing NBA analyst Doris Burke! And, as if that’s not enough for the past two weeks, this past Saturday our College hosted a group of CHDCM alums and members of our new Dean’s Advisory Council at the Prudential Center…to watch The Hall’s men’s team take down another Big East foe!
And, of course, there is something else going on right now….midterms! I wish everyone well as they finish papers, projects and exams—or grade those papers, projects, and exams—and would just encourage all members of the CHDCM community, as always, to practice self-care in these hectic times. I know that Spring Break is only a few short days away, but as we navigate the exams that separate now from then, make sure that you’re taking time for self-care. These times of year can be taxing on mental health, so please don’t forget the support and resources that are available from the University: Students can find dedicated resources through Seton Hall’s Counseling and Psychological Services, available at (973) 761-9500. Campus Ministry is likewise available at (973) 761-9545. Employees may use the Employee Assistance Program by calling (877) 622-4327.
With that, I invite you to read on, and enjoy the good news and shout outs from our CHDCM community. As always, keep your good news and event notes coming, and I wish you all a happy and healthy week of midterms, followed by a wonderful, restorative, and healthy Spring Break!

Professor Tramm also conducted a tour of Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" with Teatro Lirico D'Europa, America's leading professional touring opera company. Various performances took place in South Carolina, Florida, and New Jersey, with an estimated 3800 in attendance. Professor Tramm concluded the season with a sold-out performance of Puccini's "La Boheme" in California.
Further, Professor Tramm will be conducting the MidAtlantic Chamber Choir in a recording of Steven Gerber's "Ceremony After a Fire Raid" and "Settings of Dylan Thomas Settings." The recordings have been underwritten by a $10,000 grant from the Gerber Family Foundation, and the recording will be done in April with a June release. Many congratulations, Professor Tramm!
