Orientation Registration Begins November 30 @ 1:00 pm EST

Orientation for all new students entering for the spring 2021 term includes three main components:
  • asynchronous online content on Canvas (Miami's learning management system)
  • real-time inidividual academic advising and registration via video conference (scheduled in December and January)
  • real-time orientation sessions on Zoom about student life at Miami (January 22, 2021)
Registration for spring semester orientation begins on November 30, 2020 at 1:00 pm EST. Within one business day of registering for orientation, you'll receive access to orientation materials via Canvas, Miami's online learning platform. You will be asked to engage with information about academic and student life at Miami (and review refreshed information if you are a student who has deferred admission).
After reviewing academic content via Canvas, both new and deferred students can schedule an academic advising and registration appointment. A real-time orientation program including a faculty keynote, small group meetings with Student Orientation Undergraduate Leaders and other new students, and information about student life at Miami will be held on January 22, 2021.

Connect with Miami -  Attend the RedHawk Chat Student Panel

Monday November 23, 6:00 - 7:30 pm EST

New students and family members are invited to join staff from Orientation and Transition Programs to learn more about the orientation process for new students beginning in the spring 2021 semester, and get answers and resources for your questions. We'll review the orientation process, share ways to connect with Miami even before you begin classes in January, and ask questions of a panel of current students. Registration for this online webinar is required.

Meet With Your Go-To SOUL

A really important part of the orientation process is connecting with other new Miamians and your Student Orientation Undergraduate Leader (SOUL). SOULs are informed, resourceful guides who will assist you throughout the orientation process and your transition to college. Your go-to SOUL -- the SOUL who you'll be most connected with -- has already reached out to you through your Miami email. Your go-to SOUL has individual meeting availability each week to discuss your goals for your Miami experience, learn more about campus opportunities, and answer any questions you might have. Over the coming weeks, your go-to SOUL will also provide opportunities for you to meet in small groups to learn about Miami opportunities and resources. Please check your Miami email address regularly.
