a.bio.club is delighted to host a workshop explaining the uses and purposes of commonly used graphs in research. Types of Graphs/Assays that will be covered:

EMSA - Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assays (Agarose / SDS), Blots (Southern / northern / western), Flow Cytometry (FACS / Cell Viability), Chromatin Profiling (CHIP / Cut&Run), Heatmaps

BioScholars and Triton Consulting Group invite you to participate in the 2019 Annual Biotechnology Case Consulting Competition (BioTechathalon). Participating in this biotech-business hackathon competition is a fun learning experience that gives students the opportunity to engage in answering an interesting, real-life challenge that a biotech company might face. For this interdisciplinary competition, we encourage you to form diverse teams and show off your mad skills in a race to win Cash Prizes! The link to register will be open through March 18, 2019. Summer Research in Hong Kong - there is still time to apply.

ELIGIBILITY: Biological Sciences majors ONLY. Citizenship - US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Dream Act Eligible/AB540. Class standing -- must be junior or senior standing (90+ units). Career interest -- must be interested in pursuing an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D. and an interest in the areas of medicine, biological research, and/or bioinformatics.

Promotes engagement in basic and translational biology by facilitating students' participation in research opportunities at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Students will be matched with a lab to do clinical and basic research at CUHK for 8 weeks (late June-mid August). Students will receive a $5,000 stipend for the summer to cover all expenses, including airfare, room, and board. Room and board will be at S.H. Ho College (CUHK) while in Hong Kong. All activities will be in English, no additional language requirement needed.

NEW SP19 Opportunity: Medical School Prep 101 (FMPH 198)

Are you a first year student interested in pre-med? The application to apply for FMPH 198: Directed Group Study - Medical School Prep 101 (1 unit - P/NP Grading) for spring quarter is now open!
This course is designed for 1st year students (freshman) who are interested in pursuing medicine and becoming physicians. Learn what it takes to prepare for medical school as well as what it takes to be a competitive applicant. We’ll cover everything from academic requirements, timeline and MCAT to obtaining relevant experiences (i.e. healthcare, service, leadership, and research), letters of evaluation, the 15 core competencies and more!
Requirements:
• Entered UCSD in FA18 as a 1st year freshman student
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Be available Wednesdays from 2-3:20pm during spring
quarter
• Fill out the UCSD Medical School Prep 101 Application.

Duke University’s Undergraduate Neuroscience Journal: Neurogenesis is now accepting Submissions! Neurogenesis provides an interdisciplinary forum for undergraduates passionate about Neuroscience research to publish their work and make it accessible to an extended, university-wide audience. Submitting to a journal gives undergraduate researchers an in sight in to the peer review process that is vital to modern scientific investigation.
