NEW OPPORTUNITIES

TO GIVE

With springtime fully upon us, the Warm Hearth Foundation is excited about new opportunities to grow awareness and support for Dr. Kroontje’s founding vision for Warm Hearth.   The Foundation has recently introduced some new funds in hopes of appealing to a broader range of giving preferences among our current and potentially new donors. Now, in addition to supporting seniors through Neighbors in Need and the Brian H. Smith Benevolence Endowment, which provide for immediate and long-range needs on our campus, we have expanded our focus to include Employee Growth & Development as well as Strategic Growth & Campus Revitalization.
  • Neighbors in Need – health care, food, supplies, emergency needs
  • Brian H. Smith Benevolence Endowment – future health care
  • Employee Development – scholarships, training & appreciation
  • Strategic Growth – bricks and mortar, revitalization and programming
If you would like to learn more about how any of these funds benefit seniors, employees and programs at Warm Hearth Village, please contact Amy Webb at 443-3413.

STEVE'S SUSTAINABLE LIVING TIP
The focus for this month is reducing (or stopping) the use of paper towels, napkins and tissues.

Years ago my family and I were at a neighbor’s house for a party and I noticed that the napkin holder on the counter was loaded with scrap pieces of cloth instead of paper napkins. Later that week, my wife and I collected cloth we already had around our house for crafts and such and cut the cloth into napkin-sized squares. We use the softer cloth for tissues and the rest for napkins. Now it is just part of our weekly laundry.

These scraps of cloth are not sufficient for drying hands or cleaning spills, so we have a good supply of hand towels and kitchen/bar towels for those purposes. We try our best not to use any paper towels at all.

There are a ton of options for cheap ‘bar’ towels on Amazon. The button below is an option for just one of them.

Sustainably,

Steve Watkins, Production Manager
