UWM is relieving your debt!
Dear Student,
We have great news! We are writing to inform you that the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is relieving your outstanding debt from the 2020-2021 academic year.
You are receiving this message because you have an outstanding balance related to your attendance at UWM between Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. We will be paying off that balance using the institutional portion of federal funding granted to the university through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF).
You are not required to take any action to have your debt removed. We will take care of it automatically, and it should be visible in your online account by Aug. 27.
We hope that this allows you to continue your studies with us. If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to enroll in the next semester. Classes for Fall 2021 start on Sept. 2 so there is still time! Note that HEERF has made additional aid available for students enrolled this fall, so you may also apply for those funds via the Dean of Students website.
We are happy to deliver this great news as we know that many of you have faced financial hardship related to COVID-19 in the past 18 months. We hope to see you back on campus again soon.
With Panther Pride,
Kay Eilers
Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management
