Reminders & Planning Ahead for Upcoming Winter Break |
KU employees will have an opportunity to rest and recharge during winter break. From Dec. 25 to Jan. 1, all KU campuses will close and eligible employees will receive paid leave without the need to use accrued leave.
Below are a few reminders for the winter break recess:
|
- For employees in units performing essential functions that are unable to close during the winter recess, an alternate time period of Dec. 15-24 can be used. This alternative period should allow for the flexibility to split staff between the two weeks if necessary.
-
Each unit must designate an individual to enter their unit’s plans by using the Unit Plans for Winter Recess form (KU login required). The form gathers information on whether the unit will be fully open, closed or operating with reduced staffing, as well as mail delivery preferences and emergency contacts for the winter recess period.
- Supervisors should watch for time/absence approvals as deadlines ahead of the winter break will be accelerated. For more information, reference Human Resources’ Winter Break FAQ webpage.
- The 2025 discretionary holiday must be used on or before Dec. 20.
