Message from the President

Greetings friend, and welcome to the July Comfort Connection!
Today I would like to pay tribute to my fabulous staff at Comforts of Home – Care. My office staff and caregivers are truly remarkable.
They say a business that can run without the owner has merit. I have been the owner of Comforts of Home – Care since its inception in 2005. In the beginning, I did absolutely all the jobs! I even did a few caregiving shifts. I worked tirelessly and performed all the on-call hours 24/7 for the first 24 months the company was in business.
As the company grew, I hired for more and more positions, and I was able to remove myself to truly become the President and CEO. All the positions required to make the company go, grow, and flow had been hired for. The last "operational position" I let go was that of Client Care Coordinator, or was it Payroll? That was a few years ago now... I got to the point where the only thing I was doing was managing the staff under me. But then I hired for that too... I felt as if I had really learned the art of delegation.
But then in October 2018, something happened that really put this theory to the test. I suffered an incredible accident that put me in the hospital for 12 days. Although I personally thought I was "okay" at the time, the more time that went by, the more I realized how serious my condition really was. In reality, I was only able to focus on me and my recovery. I had very little capacity for anything else, never mind running an entire company with hundreds of employees.
Shortly after that, I left the country for four months, still in rest and recovery mode to a warmer climate. It wasn’t until I came back in April that I realized how amazingly incredible my staff was.
Over and over again, I heard from my Operations Manager, "Oh, I didn’t want to bother you with that." How many things did she just handle??? She managed my staff and hired (and fired) as necessary during that time period. My staff pitched in, rolled up their sleeves, and got it done!!!
My clients and their families are well-cared for. All major potential crisis were averted and dealt with. The company is in great shape! I am in awe. I am thankful for my staff and each person who works for Comforts of Home – Care. What an amazing team!!! My company was put to the test, and it really came through.
Thank you, staff, for being amazing. I am truly blessed.
Blessings,
