How We Celebrate Exceptional Service at PDX
At PDX, we believe in recognizing the moments that truly stand out—the ones that reflect our core values of being friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. That’s why, every quarter, we host the PDX People customer service awards.
Ever wondered, "How are winners chosen?" or even, "How can I win?" Here's everything you need to know:
Who can win?
Anyone who works at PDX is eligible. All it takes is consistently going above and beyond while embodying the PDX People values. Winners attend the event, and all nominees receive recognition.
How do I nominate someone?
If you witness great service—whether it’s a small act of kindness or an amazing customer experience—you can submit a nomination. The ability to nominate is open to everyone: coworkers, managers, and even travelers. If you see something special, say something!
How are winners selected?
The PDX Working Committee, made up of 30 volunteers from across airport industries, reviews the nominations and selects the winners each quarter.
What's the awards event like?
Winners and their managers are invited to a special celebration along with the Working Committee. The event features a guest speaker, good food, and an awards ceremony.
Got someone in mind? Don’t wait—nominate and help us celebrate the amazing people who make PDX shine! Want to learn more about PDX People recognition? Check out the recognition programs and read about past winners on the PDX People website.

What's New with PDX Next: Door Closure, TriMet Ticket Machines, and Concourse E Detour
Door Closure: Now through Wednesday, April 30, security door T2TB21 – leading to the Concourse B ramp – is temporarily closed while crews work on fire alarm conduit.
TriMet Ticket Machines: The TriMet paper ticket machines previously located at the south end of baggage claim and on the MAX platform have been removed. In fact, all paper ticket machines throughout the TriMet service area are being replaced with HOP card vending machines. Paper tickets can still be purchased from a TriMet driver when boarding a bus, and previously purchased paper tickets will continue to be honored on buses, MAX trains, and streetcars. We’ll keep you posted on what will be placed in this space going forward. Need a HOP card? Find a place to purchase one.
Concourse E Detour: Reminder that for evening travelers arriving at Concourse E gates, there will be a temporary detour tonight, Monday, April 21, and Tuesday, April 29 through Friday, May 2, on weeknights from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. There may be work on Saturdays if there are delays due to weather on weeknights. Need a refresh on the impacts? Here’s what you should know

Celebrate National Volunteer Week at PDX
National Volunteer Week is April 20 - 26, a time to recognize volunteers and their positive impact in our community and our world. PDX is home to three volunteer programs: the Volunteer Information Program (VIP), the PDX Music Program, and the PDX Animal Therapy Program. Join us in thanking our volunteers this week – and every day – as we celebrate their contributions to our airport and beyond. Read more about these programs and all they’ve accomplished.

All you need to do is sign up for the United Airlines' blood drive on Tuesday, April 29, happening pre-security on the mezzanine level at PDX. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets, and your blood donation helps to ensure there's enough supply for all patients who need it. How PDX’s Wood Maps and Markers Came to Life
From the tall Doug fir beams overhead to the wood markers tucked around the terminal, this project is all about connection – to the land, to the folks who care for it, and to the stories that help make PDX feel like home. Check out the video to learn more about how the maps and markers came together, and what it means to see these stories woven into the space.
"PDX (Wooden Roof)" Music Video Drops
As you head into the weekend, we’re bringing you the hottest new jam: "PDX (Wooden Roof)," a music video by DJ Avelanche, The Mayoress, Mike Likes Science, and Karma Rivera. Memorable lines include, "Flying into the Rose City, thinking to myself, 'Hey, this airport is pretty,'" and "We got so many [trees] and they grow so tall, now the airport doesn't look like a mall." Sure, there's a little dig on the baggage claim ("it remains the same"), but the song is an absolute banger and it's wonderful to see our creative community come together to celebrate this space. PDX in Pictures
Not all secrets are hidden underground. Some are hiding in plain sight—floating somewhere between earth and the sky. Tucked inside Loyal Legion, there’s a place where constellation walls, technicolor windows, and silver-leaf ceilings make time feel like it’s standing still. You just have to know where to look…and maybe ask the bartender for the code. Welcome to Aurora. A hidden speakeasy at PDX.
They're staffed Monday-Friday 4-8 p.m. and you can use your 10% employee discount on regular orders at both the restaurant and Aurora, excluding alcohol. Plus, the special employee menu (with 10% discount already applied) can be ordered in both locations. Want the place to yourself to host a gathering? Contact Loyal Legion for private events at airportevents@loyallegionbeerhall.com.
