Public Art Made for and by Community |
Participants making mosaics at a workshop hosted by Crystal Meneses.
|
In a vibrant collaboration between RACC and Multnomah County Library, local artist Crystal Meneses (founder of local nonprofit
Activate Arts) is crafting a unique glass tile mosaic mural for the Holgate Library. This project, deeply rooted in community involvement, features 1,500 tiles, each individually designed by community members in workshops led by Meneses. Meneses bridges art with biomimicry, drawing inspiration from nature to address human challenges.
“With this background and doing art therapy with people, I noticed that when people reconnect with nature and creativity, there's something healing that happens. When I created this process for art making, that connection is really the intention of it all,” says Crystal. Join us at Rockwood Library on Saturday, February 3rd 12-2 pm.
