International Economic Development Council (IEDC) celebrates #EconDevWeek each year to highlight the programs, best practices and exceptional individuals that positively impact life in their communities. It’s a time for validating the often unheralded work of the profession and generating hours of media coverage and millions of social media impressions for participants. For more than 60 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week, which acknowledges the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year, National Small Business Week takes place April 28 - May 4, 2024. This year’s activities include in-person events and an educational virtual summit on a variety of business topics. O'ahu Business Connector is using this time to spread the word about their new services and you can play Small Business Week bingo with Louisiana Economic Development. If you work with rural entrepreneurs or are involved with rural development, our friends at SaveYour.Town and Small Biz Survival want to hear from you as part of the Rural Challenges survey now open for this year. By adding your perspective to this survey, you’ll help inform the 2024 Rural Challenges Report, which is used by community leaders all over North America to make better decisions on how to bolster rural economic development and entrepreneurship support. Scott Asmus, program director of SourceLink Nebraska, was recently featured on the podcast Growing Small Town Nebraska. Scott highlighted the many resources available to entrepreneurs across Nebraska and shined a spotlight on their program. The International Conference on Business Incubation (ICBI38) was held earlier this month in San Antonio, Texas. Krista Markley and Solomon Lee met with partners and friends like Klassi Duncan from the Urban League of Louisiana, Casey Nemecek from SSTI, Julie Matthews with National Entrepreneur Center, and Charles Ross with InBIA.

During this same week Rob Williams was invited to participate as a judge for the successful Arkansas Governor's Cup Collegiate Business Plan Competition and was able to catch up with Jeff Amerine, Startup Junkie Consulting and Tiffany Henry, Arkansas Community Capital, among many others.
