RISING SENIOR DISCOVERS BREAKTHROUGH STORY WHILE INTERNING AT THE GUARDIAN
Valerie Yurk, a rising senior at SMPA, has spent her summer pursuing her career in science reporting as an intern at the Guardian and even had a story published earlier this month. Valerie, who had previously worked with Planet Forward, attributes the internship in large part to visiting professor of science communication, Lisa Palmer.

“I really connected with her. I mentioned that I wanted to get into science reporting and she kind of took me under her wing and set up this internship for me. She really worked so hard to set this up,” Valerie said. “An incredible professor and an incredible resource.”

Peter Loge recorded an interview on a new podcast by an SMPA alumni Aaron Huertas called Framing, Abolition, and Reform with Peter Loge. Peter also was quoted in Deseret News talking about how democracy can unravel without civil, ethical-political communication.
Cheryl W. Thompson is on the Advisory Board for Spotlight DC the first and only nonprofit funding investigative journalism platform in the DC region.
Frank Sesno was quoted in Business Insider in the article Fox's Chris Wallace gets praise for his interview with Trump.
