Prioritize Your Mental Health
|
-
Stay Active: Regular exercise, even a short walk, boosts your mood and reduces stress. The Rec Center is also open 7 days a week.
-
Prioritize Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of rest to support mental clarity and emotional balance.
-
Stay Connected: Talk to friends, family, or a counselor in CAPS or Uwill if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
-
Practice Mindfulness: Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breathing or doing a calming activity.
- Set Boundaries: Learn to say no and manage your time to avoid burnout.
|
Remember, taking care of your mental health is a daily practice!
|
Remember that we are stronger together. Please take care of yourself and each other.

|
| Tip of the week from Dr. Dianne Aguero-Trotter, Director, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
|
-
When feeling overwhelmed remember to treat yourself with the same kindness you would show a friend. Self-compassion is part of the foundation of good mental health.
- Find healthy ways to express how you’re feeling; writing in a journal, creating art, music, exercising and crying can all help reduce the intensity of our emotions.
- Emotional resilience is not about avoiding stress but about learning how to thrive despite it.
