LIGHTING OF THE GREEN

Lipscomb hosted the 19th annual LIghting of the Green on Nov. 29 with Amy Grant. Grant was joined by special guests Ellie and Drew Holcomb, Corrina Gill as well as Lipscomb's Gospel Choir, Sanctuary and the Lipscomb Academy choir. What a beautiful winter night it was to welcome the Christmas season. Enjoy a few pictures from the evening.

Bison Parent Prayer Gathering image
Join us for our first parent and family prayer Zoom of the year on Jan. 9 at 10:55 a.m. CT. Dr. Earl Lavender will kick off our 2024 parent prayer Zoom meetings. Lavender is the executive director of the Center for Vocational Discovery, Director of Missional Studies, and professor in the College of Bible and Ministry as well as in the Hazelip School of Theology. His passion is helping people find their place in God's amazing story.

FINANCIAL AID

On Nov. 29, the university sent an email to parents describing information about the changes made to the FAFSA application. This redesigned and streamlined FAFSA form will be available by Dec. 31, 2023.
The Federal Student Aid Estimator created by the Department of Education (DoE) provides an estimate of how much federal aid the student may be eligible to receive. These estimates are based on the Student Aid Index (SAI), a measure to determine federal student aid eligibility. You can use this tool to estimate the federal student aid your student may be eligible for the 2024-2025 award year. You can get more information at https://studentaid.gov/aid-estimator/.
While we wait for the DoE to release the new FAFSA, you can go ahead and start the process by applying for a Federal Student AId (FSA) ID. We recommend that you make your FSA ID at least 3-5 business days before you start to apply because various offices need to validate your information. There is no penalty to get your ID early, so get your FSA ID as soon as possible.
Click here to access the FAFSA website.

SECURITY

Lipscomb Ready App. As we start the new year, make sure you have downloaded the Lipscomb Ready app and enabled notifications in the app to receive timely emergency push notifications. Parents can also download the app and register for alerts to know what is happening on campus.
Friendly reminder: Security office is available by phone 24/7 at 615-966-7600. Students should save the security office's number in their phones for quick and easy access.

OFFICE OF SPIRITUAL FORMATION

Herd in Prayer
The Lipscomb Office of Spiritual Formation produces “Herd in Prayer,” a calendar with daily prompts to cover our community in specific prayers. Herd in Prayer is published each month and shared in various ways with our community. We hope you will join us by downloading the calendar

CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Career Development Center can help students prepare for internships
At Lipscomb, many academic programs require students to engage in an internship or relevant work experience. As Christmas break approaches, it is imperative that students hoping to complete Spring 2024 internships fine-tune their resumes and submit their applications to employers. Deadlines are approaching quickly for many companies that offer student positions.
The Career Developement Center (CDC) staff encourages students to utilize Handshake as they search for internships and jobs. The career center staff is happy to help with resumes and cover letter revisions. CDC has helped over 300 students and alumni with resumes, mock interviews and career exploration this semester alone, and staff hopes you encourage your students to take advantage of its resources.

YEAR-END GIVING

Help students. Give today! image
As you think about making your end-of-the-year gifts to causes dear to you and your family, please consider making a gift to the Lipscomb Experience Fund. This fund supports programs such as chapel offerings, student life events and campus enhancements that set the student experience at Lipscomb apart from other universities.
Your contribution to the Lipscomb Experience Fund directly influences the growth and success of not only your student but every student on this campus, ensuring they receive an education that goes beyond the classroom, fostering holistic development and Christian character. All gifts–regardless of size–directly impact our students.
